Battle of the Bands March 02, 2014 - World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., Phjila Go to this URL
OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION FROM PHILLY BEER SCENE:
Last year, six local breweries put together bands and took the stage at World Cafe Live in a good old fashioned battle of the bands. Everything from bluesy-rock originals to hip-hop and death metal covers were performed and it was easy to say, everyone left entertained and impressed. In the end, Yards' tribute to death metal and Troegs Starsan originals came out on top in what was far from an easy decision for the judges.

Band of Brewers is back and we're stepping it up a notch. Many of last years bands will take the stage again, along with a handful of new bands. Our MC for the evening will once again be, the one and only, Curt Decker of Nodding Head Brewery. As with last years rules, each band will have the opportunity to perform 3 songs on stage. They can play any songs of their choosing, which can be either covers or originals. We will have a panel of “celebrity” judges on hand to critique their performances and select a winner. The audience will be able to get in on the judging process this year as well, as each attendee will get a vote to cast. We will once again be raising money for charity, as part of the proceeds will go to the charity of choice of the winning band.

Each brewery will be represented by draft beers of their choice, so expect a pretty awesome lineup of local craft beer. World Cafe Live's full service bar will be open if you decide to drink something other than beer. There will also be food available for purchase for those who desire more than just beer to get through the concert.

$20. Tickets Available Online.

We will once again be raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand. I have set an extremely high goal of $25,000 for this one-day event. Remember that sales are all CASH ONLY! 100% of the money from our draft beer will be donated directly to Alex's. Rare beers to be raffled with 100% of those funds going directly to the charity. C'mon Philly - let's show 'em what this great city is made of...give me all your money & I'll give it all to this very worthy charity.

I'm working on our Draft List for this very special event. I've saved some amazing, cellar-worthy kegs for this charity event.

I was at Brasserie Cantillon a couple of weeks ago and picked up a Magnum of Cantillon Gueuze. I'll dig around my basement, dust off some cobwebs to see what additional Cantillons I can put together for a raffle. As with our draft beer sale for this event, 100% of the Raffle money will go directly to Alex's Lemonade Stand. I'll put together a couple of additional raffles.

Help us help these cancer-stricken children and their families. It's a very worthy cause and you get to drink amazing beer. How often do you get to feel altruistic when you're out drinking beer?

Please remember this is a CASH ONLY event. I don't want to pay for the beer, donate 100% of the money raised and then have to pay all those credit card/debit card fees. So, please, please, please, bring lots of cash with you!
